David E. “Buddy” Williams, Sr., 82, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Olathe Medical Center. Dual services for Buddy and David Jr. will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 8, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Mr. Williams, Sr. will lie in state from noon Thursday, to the service hour. A rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the mortuary, followed by a family and friends visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Homewood, Kansas. David was born Wednesday, May 9, 1934, in Lee County, Arkansas, the son of Woodrow and Cora Lee (Totty) Williams. As a child he lived in Brinkley, Arkansas, and the Kansas City area. After marriage he lived in Kansas City, Kansas, moving to Shawnee, Kansas, in 1964. In 1973, Buddy moved to rural Princeton, where he made his home until his death. David was united in marriage with Joann Garrity August 22, 1959, in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Karen Williams of Princeton, Kelly Pearson of Ottawa, and Nick Williams and wife Dena of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, David Williams, Jr.; parents, Woodrow and Cora Lee Williams; and brother, Wayne Williams. Buddy was a master commercial electrician and 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 124 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, and former Knights of Columbus, Council 2332, Shawnee. Buddy was a loving, giving, family-oriented husband, father and grandfather with a wonderful sense of humor. He was very close to his family, including his extended family. He traveled extensively. His hobbies included auctions, antiques and painting old western scenes and portraits, as well as sketching.
