David Albert Zumbrum, age 76, originally from Americus Kansas, most recently of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away on May 8, 2024, at his home.
David was born February 17, 1948, to Walter and Betty Jean (Keller) Zumbrum in Emporia Kansas. He attended Americus schools and graduated from Americus High School in 1966. David worked a few jobs around Emporia before starting at the ATSF Railroad. He worked for Santa FE/BNSF for forty-five years as a brakeman/conductor before retiring. He also was a farmer in both Americus and the Williamsburg area.
He is survived by his children Jan Zumbrum of Glendale, Arizona and Mike (Carrie) Zumbrum of Meriden, Kanas; grandchildren Megan and Brent Zumbrum; sister Dinah Dykes of Topeka, Kansas; many nieces and nephews; and his ex-wife Ruth Zumbrum.
David is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Thomas, John, and Joe Zumbrum.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Americus Community Center from 2:00-4:00pm.
