Daniel David Wilson, age 87, of Paola, Kansas passed away March 22, 2019 at home. Daniel was born on March 25, 1931 in Ottawa, Kansas to Daniel Henry and Ellene Elizabeth Walker Wilson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. In 1952, he married Katy Kaeckell. Together they had 3 children. He and Katy started the Paola Plamart and Pool in the mid 60’s and had dances every weekend. People would come from all over to enjoy the dance hall and fellowship. He also owned and operated the Pit Barbeque restaurant for many years on Silver Street. This marriage later ended in divorce. He was united in marriage to Shirley Dedrick on December 31, 1986, who preceded him in death in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife, parents and sister Rosie Paine. Daniel is survived by his daughter, Debbie Pulliam; sons, Steve and Mike Wilson; step-sons, Billy, Richard, Russell, and Kenneth Dedrick; sister Alice Bollinger; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren. A visitation will be Saturday March 30th from 1 to 2:30pm with funeral service following at the Dengel and Son Mortuary. Memorials may be given to donors choice in memory of Danny.
