Dan Yanez, 76, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends immediately following the service. Daniel was born June 4, 1945, in Santa Paula, California, the son of Raymond and Marie (Blevins) Yanez. He grew up in California, moving to Pomona, Kansas, where he lived the last 30 years. He graduated from Moorpark High School, Moorpark, California, with the Class of 1963 and continued his education at Ventura College in Ventura, California. Dan served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1965 to 1969. On January 25, 1975, Dan was united in marriage to Linda Connell in Camarillo, California. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2011. Dan later married Kim in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death in 2021. For the majority of Dan’s life, he was dedicated to animals. He worked at Haven Steel, was a horse trainer, and later was employed for the City of Pomona with Animal Control. He was an active member of Countryside Baptist Church in Osage City, Kansas, and was Sunday school support staff. He enjoyed golfing, loved animals and had several cats and dogs, but above all else loved spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include three sons, John Yanez (Sandra) of Mountain View, Arkansas, Brian Yanez (Phylicia) of Pomona, and Garrett Yanez (Michelle) of Westport, Kansas; two siblings, Janet and Smokey; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
