Dale Lynn Homrighausen, 80, of Paola, Kansas, passed away on June 22, 2024.
Dale was born on December 27, 1943 to August "Gus" William Homrighausen and Lillian Paulina (Minden) in Long Beach, California. On January 2, 1944, he was baptised at the Christ Lutheran Church in San Pedro, California. His family moved back to Paola in 1947 where he began to attend grade school at First Luthern and obtained his diploma from Paola High School, with the class of 1961. On April 14, 1957 Dale was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Paola.
After graduating Dale joined the National Guards, where he served for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1965. During this time he worked in Oregon for the US Forest Service. After returning to Paola Dale met the love of his life, Doris Foland, and was united in marriage August 30, 1968 in Estes Park, Larimer, Colorado. With this union he was blessed with a little four year old boy, Michael J. Brim, from Doris' previous marriage. In 1973 they completed their family with another son, Brian Lynn.
Shortly after leaving the National Guard, Dale acquired a job with Taylor Forge with the position of Plate Roll Operator. This made him the second generation of Homrighausen's to work there. After 41 years of dedication to this company, Dale retired April 30, 2010. Before his retirement Dale was ecstatic to have his son, Brian, join the Taylor Forge team, becoming the third generation of Homrighausen's to work there.
After retirement Dale spent his time caring for his wife, Doris. You could always find him tending to his garden and flower beds or just relaxing on the patio with the love of his life watching the hummingbirds. Dale was an avid reader and later became an avid woodworker where he spent his time making beautiful projects with the scroll saw. He never met a stranger and was willing to lend a hand when called upon.
Dale always felt so fortunate to be raised in a small town. He felt that he had the best of both worlds by getting to play in the creeks and run through the barns with his brother, but also getting to enjoy going to the city to spend time with all of his cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris,Grandson in law Scott Hoisington, Niece Michelle Harper and Nephew David Homrighausen.
He is survived by his brother Don Homrighausen(Kathy) , Sons Michael J. Brim (Deena) and Brian L. Homrighausen (Melinda), 6 granddaughters, and 7 great grandchildren.
