Clyde D. Rhine, 92 of Eudora, Kansas passed away March 29, 2011 at Wellsville Retirement Community where he was a resident for seven weeks. Clyde was born September 28, 1918 to George and Hazel Rhine in Gove County, Kansas. He graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1936. He married Marie Gardner in 1938 who preceded him in death in 1983. Survivors include his sister, Alma Warnock of Overland Park and three daughters; Connie Sprake and Judy McCall of Boca Raton, FL and Vicki King of Palm Harbor, FL. Grandchildren include; Shelley Geisler, David McCall and Brent King, five great grandchildren; Julie & Laura Geisler; Ryan, Sean and Corryn McCall. Clyde was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Baxter of Ottawa, KS in 2005 along with five sisters and two brothers. Clyde was a Contractor Superintendent and a member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters in the Kansas City area for over 25 years. In 1966 he established Clyde D. Rhine Construction Co. and retired at the age (52) where then he moved to the family farm in Eudora. He enjoyed his life as a farmer raising registered Polled Hereford cattle and farming many field crops. He loved pheasant and quail hunting for over fifty years and was an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman. He would say his secret to a long life were the many days he went fishing. His winters were spent in Port Aransas, TX fishing until he was 89 years old. Clyde’s daughters would like Jeff and Mary Johnson his neighbors to know we appreciated both lovingly looking after Dad for the last 10 years while he maintained his independence until just recently. Services will be private at the family farm.
