Burt A. Green

Burt A. Green, age 70, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. He was born on Thursday, January 5, 1939, in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of Verdine Bordman “V.B.” and Bernice Alois (Huggins) Green. He lived in Wichita for most of his childhood and also lived in Cherryvale, Kansas, California, Illinois, Wichita, and Chanute before moving to Ottawa in 1994. Burt was owner and operator of B & G Tree Service in Ottawa from 1972 to 1976. He also worked as a small engine mechanic and had worked at Hilicrafters in Wichita and Custom Electronics in Chanute. He also worked in construction until retiring due to failing health. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Ottawa and former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles of Cherryvale, Kansas. On January 28, 1975, Burt was united in marriage with Jean Anne Robertson in Ottawa. She preceded him in death May 23, 1980. He was united in marriage with Cora Rose Sawyer Frailey in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death November 8, 1993. On August 2, 1999, Burt was united in marriage with Judy Ellen (Hall) Hines in Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Judy Green of the home Daughter-Alois Megenity & her husband, Patrick, of Chanute, Kansas Son-Burt V. Green & his wife, Robin of Ottawa, Kansas Stepson-Richard Hines of Ottawa, Kansas Sister-Jeannie Nelson & her husband, Buddy, of Cherryvale, Kansas Brother-Gary Green & his wife, Lynn, of Chicago, Illinois Brother-Max Green of Florida Brother-Darrell Green & his wife, Darlene, of Chanute, Kansas Grandchildren (Seven)-Carrie Megenity, Crystal Megenity, Cody Megenity, David Green, Aaron Green, Scott Green, Jeremiah Green He is preceded in death by his: Father-Verdine Bordman “V.B.” Green Mother-Bernice Alois (Huggins) Green Wife-Jean Anne (Robertson) Green Wife-Cora Rose (Sawyer) Frailey Green Brother-Ronnie Green Sister-Oreta Nelson SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Green at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and after 1:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 4:00 to 5:00 Sunday afternoon.
