Brenda S. Hernandez, 62, of Ottawa, passed away at her home Sunday, March 11, 2018, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the mortuary. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa. Brenda was born October 17, 1955, in Ottawa, the daughter of Jay Lyle and Lois Edith (Mollett) Doty. She grew up in Quenemo until moving to Ottawa. She graduated from Quenemo High School with the class of 1973. Brenda was united in marriage to Eugene Hernandez October 12, 1974, in Ottawa. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her two children, Jade Hernandez of Ottawa, and Jesse Hernandez of the home; six siblings, Lois Standing Cloud and husband LeRoy of Garnett, Katherine Watkins and husband Raymond of Ottawa, David Doty and wife Dee of Quenemo, Kevin Doty and wife Teresa of Pomona, Karla Doty of Kansas, and Eric Doty and significant other Casey Poole of Pella, Iowa; two grandchildren, Antonio Espinosa and Jackson Bishop; brother-in-law, Johnny Hernandez of Pomona; and sister-in-law, Margie and Zeke Amador of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Lois Doty; brother, Lyle Doty; grandson, Braydehn Elliott. Brenda worked for Honeywell, Bendix King, King Radio, Allied Signal, Suntron Corporation, and H.D. Lee. She was currently a material handler with American Eagle. She was a member of the Over the Road Gang. Brenda enjoyed coed volleyball, watching her grandson Antonio play baseball and many other sports, family game night, concerts with her husband, and was an avid “collector” of all things.
