Bobby J. Mcquay

Bobby J. McQuay, age 86, of Paola, Kansas, formerly of Osawatomie, passed away October 5, 2021 at his home. Bobby was born August 21, 1935 in Poyner, Missouri to Richard and Delia (Vance) McQuay. He was the sixth child of twelve. He attended school in Missouri. He and his family moved to Kansas in 1951. He was in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He became a brick mason in 1959 and was with Local #18. He married Marie DeVore (Laas) in 1958 and one daughter was born. He was a great fisherman. He enjoyed collecting rare coins and loved working in the garden. He had a great love for people. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter Bobbie Sharp, his son Sherman Laas, three sisters Violet Adams, Murle McQuay and Patsy Richey; five brothers one who died at birth, Ralph, William, Wilbern, and Doyle. He leaves two grandchildren Matt, his wife Karla, and Kristen Sharp; 3 great grandchildren; one brother Ronnie McQuay; two sisters Mary Needham and Sharon Martin. Graveside service with military honors at Osawatomie Cemetery at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021. Family and friends are encouraged to post their memories and condolences on Bobby's tribute wall.
