Bobby Gene Stubbs, age 91, of Paola, KS, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Olathe Hospice House.
He was born on February 23, 1932, in Platte County, Missouri to the late Cleveland Hendrix and Mary Kathryn (Crobarger) Stubbs. Bobby was raised in the same area and graduated from Camden Point High School.
Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for eleven years. This service included travel to many areas overseas, and on November 13, 1954, he was united in marriage to Elisabeth Born. Upon discharge, the young family moved to southern Missouri, and this is where his thirty-year career with the Frisco/BN railroad began.
In his free time, he enjoyed being an active member of the Paola American Legion for over 25 years. He also had a great passion for hunting, fishing, and antiquing.
Surviving Bobby are his four children; daughter Brigitte Rodewald (Darrel), sons Ricky Stubbs (Dena), Harry Stubbs (Gay), and Paul Stubbs, eight grandchildren, two great-grandsons, sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Stubbs, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Howard, J.C. and Harold Stubbs; sisters Georgia Lee and Betty Boone.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to made towards The American Legion, Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary, or The Miami County Museum c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary-Paola Chapel 305 N Pearl St. Paola, KS 66053.
