Bernice Ames 'Bernie' Corbett was born June 6, 1908, at Parsons, Kansas. She was the daughter of Carlos A. and Siene (Ames) Davis. Bernie lived in Parsons, until about 1970, and then lived in North Carolina and Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1972, she moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Thursday, March 25, 2004, at the age of ninety-five years. Bernie graduated from Parsons (Kansas) High School. She was a lead salesperson, assistant manager and bookkeeper at Pfeiffer's Jewelry in Parsons, Kansas, for over thirty years. She also worked at Alexander's, a jewelry store in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ottawa. Bernie liked to read and watch T.V., especially, game shows. She also liked to travel. Most of all, Bernie was a devoted wife, who very much enjoyed the company of her husband. On February 6, 1946, Bernie was united in marriage with Claude E. Corbett at Parsons, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2000. She is also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret Kjellander and Maxine Wills. She is survived by three nieces, Barbara Wills of Parsons, Kansas, Marsha King of Independence, Kansas, Judy David of Miami, Oklahoma; and, four nephews, Larry Wills of Stockton, California, Dan Wills of Gawler, Tasmania Australia, Jon Kjellander of Rockwall, Texas, and Carlos Kjellander of Florida. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004. OFFICIANT: Rev. John Heckert. IN STATE: Friends may call at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from noon to 5:00 p.m. Friday and 8:00 a.m. to the service hour Saturday. Her casket will remain closed.
