The Importance of an On-site Crematory

Peace of mind

Discover peace of mind with our superior cremation services. When you choose Dengel & Son Mortuary for cremation, you will take comfort in knowing that your loved one will always be in our staff’s compassionate, capable hands. Because we offer cremations at our very own safe and secure crematory, your loved one never leaves the shelter of our care. Our licensed and trained professionals handle every step of the cremation process with dignity and respect.

There is a big difference between “cremation services” and “on-site crematory services.” The biggest advantage of Dengel & Son operating an on-site crematory is the certainty of knowing the process is being handled with the utmost care and compassion. Price is also a consideration. We do not claim to be the cheapest but we do claim to be the best. We are among the few mortuaries in the state of Kansas to operate its own crematory. It is housed in a clean and secure facility and is “inspection ready” at all times. Please feel free to make an appointment and let us show you our unique facility and explain the benefits of choosing Dengel & Son Mortuary for your cremation needs.

Individual Cremations

To assure your loved one is being cared for appropriately, we adhere to a rigid Pre-Cremation Checklist. This ensures that the cremation is handled with care, dignity, and high standards.

Observation Room

We offer a special viewing room located next to our crematory for those who wish to be present for the start of the cremation.

Licenced Experts

All of our funeral directors are licensed by the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts as crematory operators. They routinely receive additional training and continuing education. You can be assured that we are committed to the highest standard in the industry.

Understanding the Cremation Process

During a cremation, the casket or container holding the deceased is placed in the cremation chamber. After a couple of hours, the cremated remains are carefully removed from the cremation chamber. The remains are then processed into a material called “cremated remains.” Our cremation experts then place the cremated remains in an urn chosen and purchased by the family. Throughout the entire process, we use a carefully controlled labeling system to ensure accurate identification of the cremated remains. This process follows our commitment to providing the highest standard of care.
